The beginning of the utopia we long for may lie in a fundamental shift of individual consciousness. The work Utopie : 我 explores the opposing emotions and psychological states of a man, presented through two distinct windows. In the first window, spectators witness the man’s inner confusion and turmoil; in the second, they observe him seemingly transformed—renewed, as if comforted and reconstituted in the face of his prior anguish.This work suggests that even in the face of extreme circumstances and existential limits, the human condition need not culminate in collapse. Rather, it may open the way for a new beginning—a momentum that reorients one’s sense of self. In doing so, it invites each viewer to reflect on the potential for utopia that emerges through individual awakening.
우리가 바라는 유토피아의 시작은 아마도 각 개인의 의식전환으로 부터 출발할 수 있을 것이다. 작품 « Utopie : 我»는 2개의 창을 통해 한 남자의 서로 상반되는 정서와 심리상태를 다루고 있다. 관람자는 첫번째 창에서 남자의 혼란과 갈등을 볼 수 있고 두 번째 창에서는 마치 그 혼란과 갈등의 모습을 바라보며 위로 받아 새롭게 거듭나는 듯 하는 남자를 관찰하게 된다. 작품은 인간에게 놓인 극단적인 상황과 한계가 개인의 파국으로 끝나는 것이 아니라 다시 새롭게 시작할 수 있는 모멘텀(Momentum)되기도 한다는 것을 말하고 있으며 그를 통해 야기되는 유토피아의 가능성에 관해 각각의 관람자에게 환기시킨다.
