This photographic series unfolds like a storyboard or a cinematic continuity sketch, carrying with it an implicit narrative. As a result, each image gives the viewer a sense of temporal flow. However, this work was created by positioning eight cameras at different locations and angles, all triggered to capture their respective images at exactly the same moment. Although the resulting photographs were taken simultaneously and thus contain no temporal difference, viewers still perceive a passage of time between the images. This phenomenon lends credibility to the hypothesis that time can be perceived through spatial cues alone. The possibility of such a false persuasion where viewers are led to feel the passage of time without any actual temporal progression stems from the conceptual framework shaped by our habits and experiences of perceiving images through visual media. My work, therefore, draws attention to the tension between such persuasive illusions of time and space and the conceptual constructs that reside within us.
